Drilling Engineer (OSL)


On behalf of a client, we are seeking a Drilling Engineer. 
Start-up: May/June 2019
Duration: 12 months + possible extention


  • Master Degree in Petroleum Engineering or similar education (experience may compensate for lack of formal education)
  • Valid NCS offshore safety course certificate
  • Valid IWCF well control certificate


  • Minimum 5 years of experience from drilling operations
  • Good knowledge in well control matters
  • Competency in Authority Regulations. Should have RVK course or similar experience (regelverk kompetanse kurs)
  • Proficiency in drilling engineering simulation software (Landmark suite)
  • Proficiency in time and cost estimation with either dedicated software or Excel

Responsibilities and work tasks:

  • Follow the Drilling Department Governance and Leadership
  • Follow the Drilling Management System processes for planning and executing drilling and well activities
  • Provide input needed for Authority Applications
  • Identify and evaluate cases and concepts for future wells
  • Prepare well delivery plan and execute assigned tasks
  • Detail engineer wells based on selected concept
  • Fulfil discipline requirements and ensure required deliverables are produced at the right phase
  • Prepare the Concept Selection Report & Well design report
  • Prepare time estimates and time planner
  • Prepare Drilling Programme and Hole Section Guideline
  • Identify Long Lead Items for well execution
  • Prepare specifications and participate in the contractual and purchasing work for equipment and services related to Drilling
  • Conduct quality assurance and control activities towards suppliers
  • Ensure proper preparations for operations
  • Provide input data needed and participate in Risk activities, analyses, DWOP.
  • Ensure that operations are conducted in a safe manner according to LNAS requirements, governing rules and regulations and that LNAS drilling objectives are met.
  • Monitor progress of operations and update reporting systems
  • Ensure that Final Well Report and Well summary are completed
  • Identify and document lessons learned
  • Provide feedback for improvement of the Drilling Management System
